After school study centre

Supporting student learning beyond the classroom

The After School Study Centre (ASSC) can play a pivotal role in supporting student learning and developing skills and understanding. It is open to registered and participating students every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and runs for 2 hours from 3pm to 5pm.

It operates at no cost and is open to any and all interested students.

The ASSC consists of two support units, the Homework centre and the HSC tutoring hub.

Homework centre

The homework centre is operated by experienced teachers who can assist students with their homework and school assignments. Homework is seen as an essential part of learning and students can expect to be issued either assignments or homework in each of their subjects.

'Homework refers to tasks given to students by their teachers to be completed outside of the classroom. Typical homework assignments may include a period of reading, writing, problems to be solved, a school project to be built or other skills to be practiced'.

Students can choose when and how often they attend but require pre-registration by downloading and completing the Homework Centre form (PDF 67.2KB).

For more information about the homework centre, students can contact Mr A. Garzaniti during homework centre times.

HSC tutoring hub

The tutoring hub is staffed by qualified and accredited teachers and is a learning space for senior students to receive additional assistance with homework, exam preparation, assessment task guidance; problem solving, study skills, time management, organisational skills, revision and remedial work. Any senior student can register to attend the HSC tutoring hub, which runs in 2 sessions from 3pm to 4pm and 4pm to 5pm.

The HSC tutoring hub is an opportunity for senior students in Year 11 and Year 12 to consolidate their understanding with classroom lessons and develop positive study habits.

Students can choose which session to attend but require pre-registration by downloading and completing the required information on the HSC Tutoring note (PDF 110.8KB).
