Construction industry

Working in the construction industry involves:

  • Constructing buildings
  • Modifying buildings
  • Contracting
  • Designing buildings
  • Measuring materials and sites
  • Communicating with clients.

Samples of occupations students can aim for in the construction industry include:

  • Building
  • Bricklaying
  • Carpentry
  • Concreting
  • Joinery
  • Roofing
  • Shop fitting
  • Tiling.

The qualification available through the Construction Curriculum Framework is a Certificate II in Construction Pathways CPC20211.

Course description

This course is based on units of competency, which have been developed by the construction industry to describe the competencies, skills and knowledge required by workers in the industry.
